🍵 An Afternoon Visit

دوپہر کی ملاقات

سمیرا اپنی خالہ کے گھر گئی۔

Sameera apni khala ke ghar gayi.

Sameera went to her aunt's home.

💡 "Gayi" (not gaya) tells you Sameera is female - past-tense verbs match the speaker/subject's gender. "Khala" specifically = mother's sister (paternal aunt = phupho).

خالہ نے کہا، "آؤ، چائے پیو۔"

Khala ne kaha, "Aao, chai piyo."

Aunty said, "Come, have some tea."

💡 Khala uses tum (aao, piyo - not aaiye, piyiye) because Sameera is younger family. Elders use the casual register down-generation; the niece is expected to use aap upward.

سمیرا نے کہا، "شکریہ خالہ، تھوڑی سی۔"

Sameera ne kaha, "Shukriya khala, thori si."

Sameera said, "Thank you Aunty, just a little."

خالہ نے بسکٹ بھی دیے۔ سمیرا بہت خوش ہوئی۔

Khala ne biscuit bhi diye. Sameera bahut khush hui.

Aunty also gave biscuits. Sameera was very happy.
