How to say "my", "his", "the boy's book" - agreement matters.

Three forms of "of"

Urdu uses ka/ki/ke between owner and owned thing. The form agrees with the gender and number of the OWNED thing, not the owner.

لڑکے کا کتا
larke ka kuttathe boy's dog (m sg)
لڑکے کی بلی
larke ki billithe boy's cat (f sg)
لڑکے کے کتے
larke ke kuttaythe boy's dogs (m pl)

Personal possessives

mera/meri/mere = my. tera/teri/tere = your (intimate). aap ka/ki/ke = your (formal). hamara/hamari/hamare = our.

میرا بھائی
mera bhaimy brother
میری بہن
meri behnmy sister
میرے دوست
mere dostmy friends
آپ کا گھر
aap ka gharyour home (formal)
