How it works
Right-joiner: never connects to the LEFT, so its initial and medial forms look the same as isolated. At word-start, alef carries any vowel (its diacritic decides: a, i, u). Inside or at end of word, it lengthens to "aa" (raat = night). Alef-with-madd (آ) at word-start = long aa.
